چکیده
Abstract Background Fournier’s gangrene is an acute soft tissue necrotizing infection involving the perineum and external genitalia which can result in a major loss of scrotal wall with exposure testicles. Reconstruction such defect quite challenging; use pedicled gracilis muscle flap helps to create aesthetically acceptable scrotum minimal donor site morbidity. Oncologic resection of palatal neoplasms will predictably lead to significant oral dysfunction, affecting both speech intelligibility and deglutition. The resulting velopharyngeal insufficiency may be corrected with the fabrication of an obturator or by flap reconstruction. The use of obturators is associated with a decrease in operating time and elimination of flap donor site morbidity, whethe...
متن کاملMassive Nasal Arterio-Venous Malformation (AVM) Excision and Reconstruction with Expanded Forehead Flap: A Case Report
Nasal arterio-venous malformations (AVM) are uncommon lesions. We present a rare case of huge, long standing AVM in the nasal area which was treated by angioembolization, followed by surgical excision and forehead flap reconstruction.
متن کاملDemyelinating Polyneuropathy Following Scorpion Sting Envenomation; a Case Report and Review of Literature
Background: Scorpion sting envenomation generally causes treatable local and systemic effects; however, in rare cases, the victims might experience sequels in end organs such as central nervous system. In the present paper, a case of relatively self-limiting demyelinating polyneuropathy following a Butidae sting is presented and the possible mechanisms are discussed. Case Presentation: A 19-y...
متن کاملNeonatal scrotal wall necrotizing fasciitis (Fournier gangrene): a case report
INTRODUCTION Necrotizing fasciitis in neonates is rare and is associated with almost 50% mortality. Although more than 80 cases of neonates (under one month of age) with necrotizing fasciitis have been reported in the literature, only six of them are identified as originating in the scrotum. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of a four-week-old, full-term, otherwise-healthy Caucasian baby b...
